
Principal and Founder, Kimberly Cameron
Kimberly A. Cameron, a Milwaukee native, has spent more than 30 years transforming neighborhoods as a real estate and construction management professional. Influenced by her parents’ values, Kimberly pursued a unique career path, earning a Bachelor of Science in Construction Administration as the first Black woman in the major at the University of Madison-Wisconsin and later an MBA in Finance from Concordia University Wisconsin.
Most recently, Kimberly served as the Executive Director at N.C. A&T Real Estate Foundation. She began her career at the Real Estate Foundation as the Director Economic Development quickly grew into a more senior leadership role, where she worked with a combined annual budget of $75 million. Her accomplishments include closing three financial closings within a thirteen-month period valued at more than $100 million. Under her leadership, the University added over 1300 student housing beds to its offering portfolio through the Real Estate Foundation. She implemented the first commercial real estate new construction project on East Market Street in more than twenty-years and the first of it’s kind for a public HBCU, the multi-phase economic development project named The Resurgent. Kimberly facilitated the partnership between A&T and Cone Health for The Resurgent development that will see 25,000 patients, creating 100 jobs and 300 entrepreneurs a year with at TDC of $32 million.
She began her career during a recession and held key roles, including VP of Real Estate Development at H.J. Russell & Company in Atlanta, where she restarted the Real Estate Development Division for this Top 25 Commercial GC after a ten-year pause. After 18 months the Development Division realized a profit of $1.5 million and had multiple projects in process including mixed-use, mixed-income, market-rate and 100% affordable properties. She also served as the qualifying broker of record for the company, performing compliance monitoring to ensure it was operating within Georgia Real Estate Commission rules and regulations.
Her diverse experience spans roles as an entrepreneur, adjunct professor and Community Development Manager at Woodforest National Bank. At Self-Help in Durham, North Carolina, she led a 20-member real estate team and managed significant projects, including revitalizing a defunct shopping center in East Greensboro.
Kimberly believes in creating healthy, economically viable communities through strong management, governance and collaboration with stakeholders. She is recognized for translating vision into actionable plans and has extensive experience in resource development and financing.
Kimberly founded Impactful Strategies in 2024 to help other higher education institutions, nonprofits and businesses with managing commercial real estate planning strategies, property acquisition, building and construction management, ownership and disposition.
Beyond her professional life, Kimberly enjoys creative pursuits like jewelry making. Her more than 10 industry honors include the Triad Business Journal’s 2025 Outstanding Women in Business Honoree, 2024 Metropolitan Business League and 2022 University Police Department Partner Award. She holds several board memberships and affiliations, including roles with the Southern Area Representative to The Links Foundation, current board chair for the Greensboro M/WBE Advisory Committee and the Durham City-County Planning Commission Chair, Past President of Piedmont Triad CREW, a leader with the Girl Scouts Carolina Pines Council and more.
